At the core of the Bell Potter Securities business is its team of over 325 financial advisers who provide advice and execution services for private clients across 11 offices in Australia. Bell Potter Securities’ advisers aim to deliver the best possible result for their clients through quality advice and service. Advisers have access to in-depth research and a full range of services and products including: portfolio lending, at-call facilities, portfolio administration and personal superannuation.

INSTITUTIONAL EQUITIES

Bell Potter Securities has a highly experienced and skilled team of institutional specialists who provide client-focused advice, trade execution and quality research for institutional and corporate clients seeking access to Australian Equity Markets. The team operates across various Australian offices and in our New York, London and Hong Kong offices to provide a global distribution platform for domestic and international institutional investors.

INTERNATIONAL EQUITIES

Bell Potter Securities has a market leading platform for Australian retail clients to access global markets in an efficient and cost effective way. Developed alongside strategic partner Citi, our fully integrated and automated international equities platform provides direct market access to all major global share markets, with multi-currency, settlement and reporting functions.

EQUITY CAPITAL MARKETS

Bell Potter Securities is the Equity Capital Markets (ECM) leader in the Australian equities small and mid-cap sector. We have an established reputation for providing high-quality advice in relation to placements, market sell-downs and block trades, equity capital raisings, IPOs, corporate advice and structuring, share price advice and valuation, and mergers and acquisition advice and execution. In 2022, the ECM team generated $52.0 million gross corporate revenue and completed 85 transactions.

PAS & SUPER SOLUTIONS

Portfolio Administration Service (PAS) is a comprehensive wealth administration service for private clients that incorporates investment administration and tax reporting, for a wide range of direct and indirect asset classes. Super Solutions is Bell Potter Securities’ premium superannuation and retirement solution which allows private clients to establish self-managed superannuation funds. Revenue is generated from recurring administration fees. PAS and Super Solutions have funds under advice totalling $4.2 billion and generated revenue approaching $20 million in 2022.

Andrew Bell

Bell Potter Securities Director

Andrew Bell joined Bell Potter alongside his brother Colin Bell in 1978 and helped build the Group. Throughout this time, Andrew has and continues to be actively involved in developing the sales and distribution activities of the business and servicing retail and corporate clients of the firm. Andrew is a Director of Bell Potter Securities Ltd and Bell Potter Capital Ltd. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Melbourne. Andrew was appointed to the Bell Financial Board as a Non-Executive Director in 2023.

Lewis Bell

Bell Potter Securities Director

Lewis Bell is a director at Bell Potter Securities. He joined Bell Financial Group in 1980 after working in management positions with Australian industrial companies, Kiwi International Limited and Phillip Morris Limited. Lewis is a Director of Bell Potter Securities Ltd and Bell Potter Capital Ltd. He graduated from the University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Laws, and from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, Master of Business Administration.

James Unger

Bell Potter Securities Chairman & Head of Corporate Finance

James Unger joined Bell Potter Securities as Head of Corporate Finance following Bell Financial Group’s acquisition of Southern Cross Equities in 2008. At Southern Cross, James was a partner and Head of Corporate, with a focus on building the firm’s institutional corporate business. Previously, he was a Director of Equity Sales and Trading at Citigroup for 11 years and serviced clients across London and Asia. He also worked at NatWest Markets in London for five years in an institutional sales role. James is the Chairman of Bell Potter Securities Ltd. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia.

Dean Surkitt

Bell Potter Securities Director & Managing Director of Retail Equities

Dean Surkitt is Managing Director of Retail at Bell Potter Securities Ltd, with full responsibility for the retail broking operations. Dean joined Bell Potter Securities in 2010 and has a long history in the broking industry, having previously been a director at Prudential Securities Australia, and Managing Director of Citigroup Smith Barney in Australia. He has predominantly worked in the retail marketplace, running and managing large scale retail operations at Prudential, Citigroup and with Bell Potter Securities. Dean is a Director of Bell Potter Securities Ltd, Bell Potter Capital Ltd and Third Party Platform Pty Ltd.

James Gordon

Head of Australian Institutional Broking

James Gordon is Head of Australian Institutional Broking at Bell Potter Securities. James joined Bell Potter Securities in 2011 and has worked in the stockbroking industry for over 20 years in Australia, UK and Italy, including stints with Royal Bank of Scotland and BNP Paribas. James has extensive experience in the distribution of corporate deals specialising in stocks outside the ASX50. James and his team have a market leading position in institutional distribution and access to Tier 1 Australian institutions.

Chris Savage

Head of Research

Chris Savage has over 25 years’ experience as a research analyst and has covered various sectors including technology, telecommunications, media, engineering & construction and mining services. Chris is the Head of Research at Bell Potter and helps oversee a team of around 20 analysts. Prior to Bell Potter he worked at Goldman Sachs, LINWAR and BNP Equities. Chris started on the buy-side with Credit Suisse Asset Management in 1994 but made the switch to the sell-side in 1996.

Joe Tillig

Chief Technology Officer

Joe has over 20 years of IT experience across a variety of industries including energy, finance, IT, media, telecommunications and logistics. He joined BFG from a fintech lender Nimble where he was Chief Digital and Innovation Officer (CDIO) responsible for strategy, delivery, engineering and DevOps. Prior to that Joe was consulting to Energy Australia where he defined their digital, data and analytics strategies. He has also held senior roles at Latitude Financial Services and Sportsbet. Joe is responsible for a team of around 90 IT and development specialists within Australia and offshore.
